Inspiration behind the Work
Painting animals has always given me enormous enjoyment, so I was delighted to be commissioned by TCVets to make some work to brighten their waiting area to give their clients enjoyment. The 4 original paintings in this small series are hanging proudly on the wall at TCVets and measure an impressive 4′ x 3.5′, but prints are available to buy here, and the series is currently expanding.
Because waiting for your pet to be seen or treated can be an anxious time I felt it was important to create paintings that are bold, colourful and humorous, have many points of interest, and above all make everyone smile. I proposed producing 4 paintings to fill the large empty wall, one of cats and one of dogs to reflect TCVets domestic practice, one of horses to appeal to equine clients, and one of cows with sheep as a nod to TCVets history of caring for agricultural livestock. From this plan I started to compose ‘Moo’, ‘Woof’, ‘Meow’, and ‘Neigh’.
In each painting I have tried to capture the individual characteristics of each species; inquisitive cows huddled in a close-knit group, cheeky, playful and food / treat orientated dogs, relaxed, independent and ‘in charge’ cats (with attitude!), and laughing, munching, and rather individual horses. I decided to create interest by using a fish-eye perspective, so the stars of each painting really reach out to connect with the clients looking at them, and I’ve given the work a slightly ‘cartoony’ playful character, layers of bright colour and quite busy compositions which I really hope makes them light-hearted and fun to look at.
‘Neigh’ is printed on demand by On The Edge Printers, a trusted local printing company. Using professional giclée printing techniques, each piece is produced on premium archival-quality paper with fade-resistant inks, ensuring exceptional clarity and long-lasting colour that stays true to the original acrylic painting.

Here are some things you might like to think about before getting in touch:
Subject Matter: Allie can capture any subject matter; your favourite pet, family members, your home, business, town, village, church or school, or favourite holiday scene, your garden or happiest memory. Give some thought to what you would like included in the painting, and what the focus of the piece needs to be for you.
Timings: Ideally Allie will need a few weeks to complete a commission but please be clear about a deadline if the painting is for a special event, and she will try to accommodate.
Size and shape: Consider where the painting will hang (if you know). How large is the space, would a square or rectangular painting fit well? And would a mounted and framed piece suit the décor better than a canvas or wooden panel? Framing can be arranged for paintings on paper, canvas and wooden panels so the choice really is a matter of personal preference.
Who is the painting for? Consider your / the recipient’s style and preferences; is a bold and modern style more appropriate, or representational/traditional, or is there a favourite colour for a background for example? View Allie’s work across the website to take influence and direction if helpful.
The process:
- Chat to agree subject matter, size, style, framing options, price, deposit (the deposit will cover all materials including frame if required) timings etc.
- Allie works from photographs and/or sketches. If there are clear and well-lit photographs available they may suffice, otherwise Allie will need to take photos or make sketches.
- Allie will the composition to you to ensure you are happy with the layout and proportions of the painting.
- Update photos will be sent as the painting progresses.
- Upon completion Allie will arrange for the painting to be framed, packaged and shipped and final payment will be requested.
